The layering of the Damascus blade steel is different at heel and tip and at the center, providing different types of cutting precision in each of those zones on the blade. The tip is designed for additional control for precision cutting. The heel is tough and durable to stand up to the contact-with-the-board use most common in that area. And the densely patterned center provides for ultra-smooth cutting and, with use, forms micro-serrations to help the blade retain its high level of performance even longer. With its 7-inch length, this ultra-versatile santoku blade style is easy to use, while the downturned tip makes it extra safe, too.
